Perez suffers latest F1 misery after costly qualifying spin

Qualifying at the British Grand Prix was red-flagged in the opening minutes of Q1 after Sergio Perez spun off into the gravel.

Sergio Perez's qualifying effort at the British Grand Prix came to an end after he spun into the gravel at Turn 9 in the early minutes of Q1.

The Mexican driver spun into the gravel after switching to the Soft compound tyres while the track was in a transition period from wet to dry.

Perez had a snap of oversteer into the corner and after dipping into the run-off area, he lost grip before being left stranded in the gravel.

It marks another difficult moment for Perez who has been enduring a tough run of form of late.

Perez was in 10th place at the time of his spin, but with the field improving later in the session, he was dumped out and is set to start the grand prix from towards the back of the grid.

When the session resumed, Perez's team-mate Max Verstappen also had a moment at the same corner but managed to continue.
