An angry Isack Hadjar has demanded "a redesign" of the clutch on his Red Bull following a frustrating United States Grand Prix.
Starting from third on the grid at the Circuit of the Americas, equalling the highest grid position of his F1 career, Hadjar was fifth by the end of lap one after being swallowed up by the Ferrari duo of Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton.
From there, a one-stop strategy also annoyed Hadjar, who went on to finish sixth at the chequered flag as even the one-stopping Lando Norris in his McLaren also finished ahead of the French-Algerian driver.
After watching a re-run of his race start, shaking his head while speaking to Sky Sports F1, he said: "You know, I do everything perfectly in terms of procedure, and then I just have clutch over delivery.
"These things are just out of my control. It's starting to piss me off, you know.
"And then I have poor radio coverage. I can't hear what's happening in the pits. I leave the pits with the wrong map, and then I'm losing a second lap every lap on that hard tyre. It's just..." tailing off into further head-shaking frustration.
Put to Hadjar that it is not the first time this season the RB22s have had issues at the start, and asked whether the matter had been explained to him, he said: "No" before stating, "It needs a redesign. That's it.
"The clutch, it needs a redesign because at the moment it's too fragile. It's not coping well with temperatures. Yeah, it's a real struggle."
