Oscar Piastri's poor recent run of F1 form has forced a major sponsor to change the terms of a special burger bonus.
Ahead of the new 2025 season, Grill'd teamed up with Piastri to launch the special limited edition burger, which was on offer to the public whenever Piastri finished on the podium.
However, after being reintroduced in September, the qualifying terms of the burger bonus have changed simply to whenever Piastri takes part in a race.
The Australian has not finished on a grand prix podium since third at Imola in early September, with the Melbourne-native not achieving a top-three result since the bonus was relaunched.
Some fans on social media have branded Piastri's wobble in form, with three fifth places, a fourth, a DNF and two Sprint DNFs since winning the Dutch GP as a "burger curse" after he climbed to 34 points ahead of Lando Norris.
Norris is now 24 points clear ahead of Piastri with three rounds remaining in the season.
The burger itself is a specially-designed Wagyu beef patty on a charcoal bun with papaya sesame seeds, super-charged OP chipotle mayo, crispy bacon, aged cheddar, shredded carrot, cos lettuce and Spanish onion.
"Both Grill’d and I were born in Melbourne, and I’ve always been a long-time fan of their healthy and nutritious burgers,” Piastri explained when the burger was launched.
"The burger I’ve created with the team is not only packed with protein and low sugar but it tastes great."
