Oscar Piastri has been careful not to jump to conclusions about his contentious collision with Lando Norris on the first lap of the Singapore Grand Prix.

Speaking with media, including RacingNews365, in the aftermath of the race at the Marina Bay Street Circuit, the Australian declined to expand on his feelings about the clash with his McLaren team-mate.

However, the nine-time grand prix winner insisted it will be discussed at the Woking-based squad.

The incident at the third corner left a sour taste in the mouth on the evening the papaya team wrapped up a second successive F1 constructors' championship.

Norris ultimately came home in third, ahead of Piastri in fourth, to cut his team-mate's lead in the drivers' title fight to 22 points — despite having started behind, in fifth.

Piastri was adamant he needed to look back at the contact before making his final judgement, saying: "I need to look more at the replays to know exactly what happened.

"The main thing is, the two cars coming together is never what we want. So I'll go and have a look at it in more detail and come to my conclusion."

He was clearly aggrieved by the situation, taking to team radio at the time to voice his displeasure at being hit by the other MCL39.

Although unbeknownst to Piastri, the contact between the pair was initiated by Norris clipping Max Verstappen first, which bounced him into the other McLaren car.

"I mean, I thought in the moment... It's the first lap, tensions are high," He said when asked if he stood by his anger.

"We're obviously encouraged to share our views on what happened, and I did that, and I'm sure we'll discuss it more after.

Nonetheless, Piastri maintained that his display of frustration did not compromise his race, despite TV delays suggesting he was ruing on the incident.

He said: "No. I think most of my comments were over two laps out of 62, so... I don't know, maybe it was delayed more on TV, but I felt like once I got into my rhythm a bit later in the first stint, I felt like the pace was pretty good, just I didn't have the track position to do anything."

After the controversial decision to ask Piastri to move aside for Norris at the Italian Grand Prix, the Australian is believed to have had robust conversations with the team.

Whilst he would not confirm that any such talks would have the same tenor as those at Monza, the 24-year-old was clear that there will be discussions internally at McLaren.

"I need to see the incident in more detail, honestly," he reiterated. "I think once I have the full picture of things, then yes, undoubtedly, we will speak about it, but I want to see exactly what happened before I make any conclusions."
