Oscar Piastri has stated he is unsure where McLaren stacks up in the pecking order after Friday practice in Las Vegas due to the interrupted running.
While FP1 was a largely smooth affair, the dusty track meant there was heavy track evolution throughout the 60-minute session.
The second session saw two late red flags, which denied many drivers the chance to complete their final hot laps on the soft tyre.
Piastri ended the session in 14th while team-mate and championship leader Lando Norris topped the session.
Reflecting on his day, Piastri stated: “FP1 was pretty good. There are some things to work on, but overall, I felt like it was a pretty good session.
“FP2, I did two laps for the whole session, so difficult to know exactly where we sit.
“Clearly, the car has got decent pace but not that many people got a great run on the soft. It’s a little bit difficult to know exactly where we sit.
“Still, plenty of positives and plenty of things to look through overnight.”
However, with more track evolution expected throughout the weekend, Piastri is unconcerned about his lack of preparation ahead of qualifying on Saturday.
“I feel okay,” he said. “Would I have loved some more laps? Yes.
“But the track is going to continue to change quite a bit through the rest of the weekend.
“We’ll see what kind of weather we've got tomorrow when we get here and take it from there.”
