Lando Norris will review the poor start that allowed Max Verstappen to jump ahead at the start of the São Paulo Grand Prix Sprint before Sunday's Grand Prix. The McLaren driver was on pole for the 24-lap event at Interlagos and, despite making a good initial getaway, was unable to repel the Red Bull into the first corner and eventually had to settle for second. Addressing the start, Norris said: "I have to review it, it is something to look back onto. "My initial start was good but my second phase of the launch, maybe it was just a bit conservative. "I don't think I had any wheel spin, it was just a little bit on the safe side, so things to improve for tomorrow. "I was caught sleeping a little bit with George on lap one, but the pace was strong after and I tried to go after Max, but just didn't have enough. "But it was good fun."
Norris has no concerns over McLaren pace
Norris will start the Grand Prix from sixth after being caught out by the freak storm in Friday's qualifying session, with both Aston Martins and Lewis Hamilton ahead, as well as polesitter Verstappen. Asked if he held any concerns over the MCL60's race pace after failing to challenge the Dutchman in the Sprint, Norris replied: "There was no one around me apart from Max. "So I am not concerned, if anything encouraged a lot with how good our pace was. "We're not fighting Max necessarily. We are talking about one of the best drivers and best cars there's ever been in F1. "We are not going to suddenly be fighting a Red Bull at a track we were not expecting to be as good as it has been again. "So good surprises and good positives for us. We will try again tomorrow but a little more overtaking to do."
