Lando Norris has hit out at the "dangerous" driving of F1 title rival Max Verstappen after clashes in the Mexico City Grand Prix.

On lap 10 of the race won by Carlos Sainz, the McLaren driver attempted to go around the outside of Turn 4 to pass the Red Bull, but Verstappen forced Norris wide and onto the grass, with Norris allowing leader Sainz back through.

Moments later at Turn 8, Verstappen lunged Norris, forcing both cars off the track, allowing Charles Leclerc through.

For each of these incidents, Verstappen received 10-second sanctions, serving both at his pit-stop, eventually finishing sixth, with Norris second.

It means the championship gap is now 47 points, as Norris claimed in the car that Verstappen's moves were "dangerous" and that he nearly "ended up in the wall."

After his P2 finish, Norris claimed that he was "expecting" such a move, seven days on from the US Grand Prix controversy.

"I knew what to expect, but I didn't want to expect such a thing because I respect Max a lot as a driver," Norris explained.

"But I was ready to expect something like this, and it was not very clean-driving in my opinion, but I avoided it.

"It was a good race, and I will just keep my head down and I am doing my best - we're doing a very good job as a team.

"Today we were probably quickest in the end, but we will keep our head down, that is all I can do for now: focus on ourselves and keep pushing."
