Nico Hulkenberg is preparing for a unique "emotional" farewell at this weekend's Italian Grand Prix, with it being the last event for Stake F1's current motorhome.

The Hinwil-based outfit will switch to a new motorhome following Monza, having used its current one for the last 20 years.

Monza represents the final race of the European leg of the season, meaning it will not transport its own motorhomes for the rest of the year.

Under the Sauber name, Stake's motorhome was first used at the 2006 San Marino Grand Prix and is the longest-standing in the F1 paddock.

For Audi's arrival next year when the new power unit regulations are introduced, the German manufacturer has commissioned a brand-new motorhome to be used by the team.

Hulkenberg first used Sauber's current motorhome when he raced for the outfit back in 2013, and is set to miss the old structure.

Asked by select media including RacingNews365 if he will miss the old motorhome, Hulkenberg replied: "Yeah, it served, I think us and the team well [for] 20 years.

"And I think considering that, she's in pretty good nick, good space. And, yeah, it's true that this is the last one, and I think so, yeah, [I will miss it].

"A lot of, obviously, stories have taken place here. So, 20 years. I don't know what's the number, how many grand prix it did, but obviously a fair amount. And definitely it's going to be a little bit emotional.

As for whether he has seen Audi's new motorhome yet, Hulkenberg answered: "No, I haven't actually."
