Mercedes has successfully secured homologation for its fuel ahead of the season-opening Australian Grand Prix.

Two weeks ago, during pre-season testing, reports emerged that Mercedes had not yet received certification for its fuel for the 2026 campaign.

This is supplied by Petronas, who has been a partner of the Brackley-based squad since its return to F1 in 2010.

The process to secure homologation this year has proven more difficult due to the introduction of sustainable fuels as part of the power unit overhaul this year.

It was suggested that Mercedes and its customer teams would have to run a “provisional" mix should its fuel not receive the necessary homologation.

Mercedes boss Toto Wolff played down the significance of the reports relating to its fuel.

But it seems all fears can be put to bed as RacingNews365 understands that it has now obtained the compliance and is ready for use in Australia this weekend.

As well as its own works team, Mercedes supplies power units to defending champions McLaren, Williams and Alpine.
