Mercedes has joined a unique list of teams after it finished second in the Constructors' Championship without logging a single victory.
The Brackley-based squad endured its first winless season in Formula 1 since the 2011 campaign.
Having dominated the sport for several years in the turbo-hybrid era, Mercedes slipped back in the pecking order when new technical regulations were introduced in 2022.
Last year it secured a win at the Brazilian Grand Prix with George Russell but team was unable to repeat its success this season.
Despite its struggles, it managed to fend off Ferrari for second place in the World Championship - becoming only the third team in F1 history to finish runner-up with no race wins.
The teams to finish P2 in the standings with no wins
| Season | Team | Best Finish |
|---|---|---|
| 2004 | BAR Honda | P2 x4 |
| 2007 | BMW-Sauber | P2 x1 |
| 2023 | Mercedes | P2 x3 |
The first time it occurred was in 2004, when BAR Honda secured 11 podiums with Jenson Button and Takuma Sato.
10 of the podiums went the way of Button who five years later would win a World Championship with Brawn GP.
In 2007, BMW-Sauber classified in third - however this was only due to McLaren's disqualification in the standings for its role in the Spygate scandal.
The car was driven to two podium results, courtesy of Nick Heidfeld, who had second-year driver Robert Kubica as his team-mate.
