McLaren has announced a major multi-year partnership with Intel, naming them the official computing partner for McLaren's Formula 1 and IndyCar operations.
This collaboration will also encompass McLaren's F1 sim racing activities. Intel aims to bolster McLaren's data processing capabilities by providing vital infrastructure to turn telemetry into actionable insights through a secure and scalable compute foundation.
The partnership is set to deliver cutting-edge edge computing solutions to the track, enabling crucial real-time analytics for race day decisions.
As modern motorsport heavily relies on data analysis for gains that can determine championship outcomes, these technological advancements are pivotal.
Intel's branding will debut on McLaren F1 cars at the upcoming Canadian Grand Prix and feature on an Arrow McLaren car at the Freedom 250 in Washington DC.
This branding integration will expand to the Indianapolis 500 in 2027. In sim racing, Intel branding will be showcased on McLaren's stage simulators and virtual livery from 2027.
By combining Intel’s semiconductor expertise with McLaren's racing prowess, the partnership is driven by performance innovation rather than simple sponsorship.
This alliance supports McLaren's pursuit of championship success, leveraging advanced computing for competitive gains.
"Performance in IndyCar and Formula 1 racing is driven by technology, and partnering with Intel strengthens our ability to innovate at scale," said McLaren CEO Zak Brown.
"Intel has already been an important part of our technology ecosystem, and their leadership in computing will play a critical role in how we design, build, and race our cars. We’re excited to deepen this relationship even further."
