Max Verstappen perplexed by strange 'degrading' Red Bull spin issue

Max Verstappen has offered details of a strange "degrading" issue which affected his Red Bull through Hungarian Grand Prix qualifying.

Verstappen spun off at the final corner on his final flying lap to bring out yellow flags after losing the rear of the Red Bull, and will start sixth on the grid for the race. 

Verstappen was not a contender for pole at the Hungaroring, despite the spin, but reflecting on his session, the four-time champion revealed that throughout the session and the 18 laps he completed in qualifying, the RB22 was "degrading" and "getting worse and worse" to drive.

"The weekend in general has been difficult, but when instead of the tyre degrading, your car is, then you have a big problem," Verstappen told media, including RacingNews365. 

"The car just kept getting worse and worse lap after lap, so the more laps I did, the more difficult it was to put a lap together, and for tomorrow, we need to fix it, because the car is just not drivable like this, as you can see in the final corner.

"The turn-in is non-existent on the rear, and it is really crazy, but let's see where it is coming from, because I always feel like it is a different problem, and that is harder to control. 

"They could see a loss in aero, and it kept getting worse, but the grip actually disappeared, and the car just kept oversteering more and more.

"I think I am quite good at understanding when there is a problem or when I feel something is not right, and the car just became uncontrollable in some corners and on entry, you have the feeling that the car is just not sticky anymore. I've felt it before, but it is not good."
