Max Verstappen painted an ugly picture for Red Bull after qualifying in fifth for the Monaco Grand Prix, with him outlining that the RB21 "doesn't like" much of the Circuit de Monaco.
Despite having found strong pace in final practice, Verstappen was unable to get involved in the fight for pole position, which ended up being between the McLarens and Charles Leclerc.
The Dutchman had to settle for fifth and was six-tenths adrift of Norris' lap record – it was enough to secure the Briton pole.
Whilst he could only manage the third row, a three-place grid penalty for Lewis Hamilton following an incident with the Red Bull driver promoted Verstappen to fourth.
When asked if pole position was possible, Verstappen told select media including RacingNews365: "No, absolutely not. Absolutely not.
"I think already in FP3, we had some limitations. But then in qualifying, I think it was quite clear that sector two was just very poor.
"We just couldn't ride the kerbs and all the compressions. They were just not, yeah, not really good for us."
As explained by the four-time world champion, bumps and riding kerbs were once again an issue, something which has been present for the last two seasons.
Low speed has also proven to be a difficult area for the Milton Keynes-based outfit, who have excelled this year at high speed tracks.
"It's a little bit better, but we're just weak in low speed," added Verstappen, comparing Monaco last year to this year.
"And then also where you have to take kerbs and where the camber like drops away from you, that's what our car doesn't like. It's never liked it, and still doesn't like it."
