Max Verstappen will take part in a GT race on the Nordschleife for the first time on Saturday.
The four-time F1 champion wants to obtain an A license to participate in the 24 Hours of Nürburgring in the future, meaning he will make his GT debut in a four-hour event.
Verstappen had to undergo a course on Friday to be allowed to drive. The Dutchman drove two reconnaissance laps behind a green Mercedes and took a theory exam.
Looking forward to the race, and speaking to his own website, he said: "Racing is not only my profession, but also my hobby.
"This weekend I'll be at the Nordschleife, with the goal of obtaining the mandatory racing licence needed to race here in a GT3 car, because I would love that.
"The Nordschleife is at the top of my list of circuits I want to race on, because it is extremely challenging and demanding, with its enormous length and tight, historic layout. I can't wait."
