Lewis Hamilton has been backed to follow up his maiden pole position with Ferrari by claiming victory in the Mexico City Grand Prix.
Hamilton delivered a scintillating second and final lap in Q3 at the Autodrómo Hermanos Rodríguez to clinch the top spot on the grid by just nine thousandths of a second ahead of former Mercedes team-mate George Hamilton.
It was the seven-time F1 champion's first pole since the 2023 Hungarian Grand Prix, whilst at the age of 41, he also became the oldest polesitter since Mario Andretti in the 1982 Italian Grand Prix.
In our latest poll on RacingNews365, we then asked who would win the Mexico City Grand Prix, and Hamilton was a convincing winner, collecting 37.09 per cent of the vote.
From fifth on the grid, after finishing fourth fastest but serving a one-place penalty for his on-track altercation with Racing Bulls' Liam Lawson in second practice on Friday, Max Verstappen emerged as Hamilton's closest challenger with 20.85 per cent.
Verstappen narrowly pipped champion-in-waiting Kimi Antonelli, with the 20-year-old Mercedes driver, who starts fourth, collecting just under 18 per cent.
Third-on-the-grid Charles Leclerc, who appeared favourite for pole before being beaten by team-mate Hamilton, was supported by 12.05 per cent of the voters.
Although George Russell starts alongside Hamilton on the front row, the Mercedes driver only polled 10 per cent.
From sixth and seventh on the grid, McLaren's Lando Norris and Red Bull's Isack Hadjar collected just two per cent of votes between them.
