George Russell has been handed a massive 10-second time penalty after causing an opening lap collision in the Mexico City Grand Prix.
The Mercedes driver started on the front row and suffered a terrible launch off the line, immediately dropping him back several positions on the run into the first corner.
Russell's start worsened at Turn 6, as he attempted an audacious divebomb on Isack Hadjar. He came from too far back and hit the Frenchman, who spun and fell to the back of the field.
It was quickly noted and then investigated by the stewards, before a 10-second time penalty was sent Russell's way.
At the time of receiving the punishment, the Briton found himself down in fifth and with the penalty to serve at his pit stop.
