Max Verstappen has become just the fifth driver in the history of the F1 world championship to score 50 pole positions after his effort at the Singapore Grand Prix.
For the first time in his career, Verstappen will start the Marina Bay grand prix from first on the grid after pipping Ferrari's Charles Leclerc by just 0.054s - and to finally tick the race off his list.
In claiming the 50th pole of his career, in his 250th start, Verstappen has joined a club of now five drivers in reaching the half-century.
Between them, Lewis Hamilton (104), Michael Schumacher (68), Ayrton Senna (65), Sebastian Vettel (57) and Verstappen (50) account for 344 of the poles in the 1,166 races to date, or 29.50%.
In ticking Marina Bay off the list, Verstappen has now failed to take a pole at Hockenheim, Istanbul, Madrid, Mugello, the Nürburgring, Portimao, and Sochi.
He can achieve this at Istanbul, Madrid, and Portimao as they are all on the 2027 calendar.
