Max Verstappen has shed light on the difficult experience he endured on Friday at the São Paulo Grand Prix.
The Dutchman complained about his car's handling throughout the day and could only set the sixth fastest lap time during sprint qualifying.
Championship leader Lando Norris delivered the fastest lap of the session and is set to start Saturday's race from the front of the grid.
Verstappen will have ground to make up if he wishes to further eat into Norris' title advantage, which currently sits at 36 points.
“A lot of vibration in the car, a lot of ride problems,” Verstappen explained after the session.
“Not what we want. Besides that, I think we also just don't have the grip.
“The middle sector is terrible, I just can't get the car to turn.
“But at the same time, I can't really rely on the rear. For us, it’s quite poor.”
On Saturday, heavy rain and wind are forecast and are set to play a significant role in the on-track action.
Verstappen has often excelled in wet conditions, including at last year's São Paulo race where the Dutchman rose from P17 to victory.
When asked if he can take solace in knowing wet weather could play a role on Saturday, Verstappen replied: “I don’t know, we’ll find out.
“I think it’s clear that we’re lacking something. I’m not suddenly expecting it to be miles better in the wet. We’ll see.”
