Max Verstappen criticises 'super dangerous' Red Bull car

Max Verstappen's British GP hopes came undone after suffering a late spin into the gravel.

Max Verstappen has labelled his Red Bull challenger as “super dangerous” following his latest high-speed spin.

Verstappen was in the running for a podium finish at Silverstone before he found himself rotating into the gravel at Turn 15 late on at the British Grand Prix.

It marked the second spin Verstappen has endured in two weekends as his qualifying session in Austria came to an abrupt end with a shunt into the barrier.

Verstappen pinned the blame on the rear wing of the RB22, claiming it is not shutting properly into the braking zone.

“Like Austria, a different fault but the same outcome,” Verstappen told media including RacingNews365.

“So, again, while turning into the corner, the rear wing is not fully attaching and you lose a lot of downforce for that.

“At that point, it's super dangerous because you can really hurt yourself two times. I was lucky in Austria, I was lucky here, but that's why you get really fed up with it.”

Verstappen has bemoaned the performance of his car all through the weekend, but was on course to be rewarded with a trip to the podium before the spin as other drivers faced issues of their own.

However, Verstappen asserted it would not have been a deserving result.

“[I was] unlucky with everything that happened around me, with the penalty for Lewis, a slow puncture for George, Kimi's problem,” he said.

“Even if we had finished on the podium, you'd take it, but it's not deserved at all.

“On the hard tyres we were really slow. I don't know how I kept George and Lewis behind for so long.

“The whole weekend I had a terrible balance, no top speed compared to the other car as well in the garage, and then the race was exactly the same, which I already predicted.”
