Former F1 driver Logan Sargeant will join the World Endurance Championship in 2027 with Ford Racing, the team has confirmed.
Ford confirmed early last year that it would join the Hypercar category for the 2027 campaign as it continued to expand its presence at the top level of motorsport competition.
It has now declared its first three drivers for the new team, with Sargeant being joined by Mike Rockenfeller and Sebastian Priaulx.
Sargeant appeared on stage at Ford's season launch in Detroit on Thursday night and voiced his enthusiasm as the project continues to take shape.
“It's a privilege to be here and be welcomed into the Ford family,” he said.
“I'm super excited for this programme and super excited to help spearhead the development of the hypercar. I'm excited for the season ahead and getting ready for the following [year].”
Sargeant joined the F1 grid in 2023 at Williams but endured a difficult opening campaign.
However, he bagged a highlight result at a home race from Texas, where he classified in 10th place.
It would mark Sargeant's only point-scoring result in F1 as midway through the following campaign, he parted ways with Williams.
Having dabbled in endurance racing last year, Sargeant has now set up the next chapter of his career with a full-time position at Ford, where he will have a chance to fight for the overall win at events such as the 24 Hours of Le Mans next year.
