Lewis Hamilton has suffered a nightmare stoppage during second practice ahead of this weekend's Mexico City Grand Prix.
The seven-time world champion reported a loss of power almost halfway through the session at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez.
It resulted in a sharp and immediate response from the Ferrari pit wall, instructing him to quickly pull to the side of the circuit and stop his car.
Prior to being told to stop, Hamilton said over the radio, "Something's wrong with the car", followed shortly afterwards by, "I lost all power from Turn 13".
Interestingly, Ferrari customer outfit Haas also suffered a power unit-related issue with Oliver Bearman's car, raising question marks over the Italian manufacturer's engine in Mexico.
For Hamilton, the stoppage represents a major setback ahead of qualifying and the race, with 30 minutes of running lost.
