Lewis Hamilton is "running out of patience" in his bid to turn Ferrari into F1 world champions again, according to Sky Sports F1 commentator David Croft.

Hamilton joined Ferrari with the expectations that the team would be able to carry over its strong 2024 form, in which it finished just 14 points behind McLaren in the constructors', to land a first drivers' crown since 2007 and constructors' since 2008.

With the exception of the Chinese and Miami GP sprint races, Hamilton has not finished on the podium all season, and will break the record for most GP starts for Ferrari without a podium this weekend in Mexico, currently being tied with Didier Pironi's 19.

Earlier this year, Hamilton spoke of "documents" he had sent to senior Ferrari bosses detailing where he felt the team needed to improve, but no upgrades have recently been delivered to the SF-25 as attention firmly switches in Maranello to 2026 and the huge rule changes coming into force.

Hamilton will be entering his 19th F1 season in 2026, but as Croft explained, he believes Hamilton "doesn't feel he's being listened to" at the moment as Ferrari tries to grab second in the constructors' - currently sitting seven points behind Mercedes, and just three ahead of Red Bull.

"It was lovely to see them get a podium for the first time in six races, I think it was, but they're the ones who finished one-two in Austin last year, and they finished third and fourth this year," Croft explained on the Sky Sports F1 podcast.

"It was very nearly third and fifth, because Lewis, for the second race in a row, was limping home, and it wasn't his brakes this time, but it was a puncture; he was one second ahead of Oscar Piastri by the time he crossed the line.

"So look, Ferrari will, and this is quite, I think, a prescient point, Ferrari will be delighted with a podium, and there will be a lot of smiles around Maranello, but it's not good enough.

"It's not good enough compared to what they did in Austin last year. It's not good enough compared to what people expected from the team this year, and it's not good enough for Lewis Hamilton.

"I think there are signs that Lewis is running out of patience a little bit with his efforts to try and help the team improve and change the ways, change some of their procedures to bring improvement and not being listened to.

"That to me could become a story more and more down the line, that Lewis is desperate to try and help Ferrari regain their glory years, but at the moment, he doesn't feel he's been listened to by management and those above management."
