Max Verstappen has expressed his surprise at being just over three tenths shy of pole position, with Red Bull having been much further adrift throughout the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix weekend.
The four-time world champion delivered a strong qualifying performance to secure fifth on the grid, although he was just 0.020s shy of fourth-placed Lando Norris and 0.023s behind Kimi Antonelli in third.

George Russell is prepared for a "fight on our hands" with Lewis Hamilton after the former team-mates locked out the front-row for the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix - much to Russell's surprise.
Holding provisional pole after the first Q3 runs, Russell initially fell to second on the final laps as Kimi Antonelli moved up to P1, but the Briton was able to find half a second and improve to 1:14.679 to earn a three-tenth advantage.

Kimi Antonelli concedes Mercedes struggle after George Russell defeat
Kimi Antonelli has conceded that he has been struggling at the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix after suffering defeat to George Russell in qualifying.
Antonelli is on a run of five consecutive victories and leads the drivers' championship by 66 points, although he was three tenths slower than his team-mate in the fight for pole position.
