Lewis Hamilton's miserable São Paulo Grand Prix continued as the seven-time F1 champion was handed a five-second time penalty by the stewards.
Ferrari driver Hamilton suffered a wretched start to the 71-lap race when he was tagged by Williams' Carlos Sainz at Turn 1 at Interlagos, dropping him from 13th on the grid to 18th.
Later in the first lap, on the run up the hill to the start-finish straight, Hamilton then clipped the back of Alpine's Franco Colapinto, damaging the front wing and leading to a change at the end of his next tour.
The stewards, however, took a dim view of Hamilton's move, and despite the punishment of the pit stop needed for the front-wing change, determined that a time penalty was also required.
It was the third time penalty from the stewards after they also hit McLaren's Oscar Piastri and Red Bull's Yuki Tsunoda with 10-second punishments.
