Lewis Hamilton has kick-started the second day of Ferrari track action at its Fiorano circuit as part of a Pirelli tyre test.
F1’s tyre manufacturer is testing next year’s wet-weather tyres with Ferrari at the Scuderia’s test track, with Hamilton having been behind the wheel for the entirety of the first day on Thursday.
The seven-time world champion completed 142 laps—a total distance of 423 kilometres—and tested various full-wet tyre configurations.
Towards the end of the opening day, Hamilton tested different intermediate tyre variants, with the circuit having been artificially watered using its irrigation system.
Fiorano’s clever wet-weather system kept the surface wet throughout the day, despite temperatures reaching 21°C.
Hamilton’s fastest lap was a 1:01.031, with wet-weather testing again the priority on Friday.
It is once again the 41-year-old behind the wheel, keeping the Briton busy during what was supposed to be Bahrain Grand Prix race week.
