Lewis Hamilton handed one-sided support in F1 FIA suggestion

It's clear that the fans feel the drivers should have more of a say in matters moving forward.

Lewis Hamilton has been handed overwhelming backing following his recent assertion that F1 drivers should have "a seat at the table" when it comes to helping form future regulations.

This year's new rules have been heavily criticised by the drivers, not least four-time F1 champion Max Verstappen who reiterated his claim over the Canadian Grand Prix weekend that if proposed changes are not implemented next season then he will likely quit.

Although there is an argument to suggest that the racing has improved this season, its artificiality has come under fire, while the drivers feel the complexity of the cars means the fans have little idea as to what is genuinely taking place inside the cockpit.

Unfortunately, the drivers have no voice, certainly when it comes to the rule-confirming F1 Commission.

Seven-time champion Hamilton indicated earlier this month that perhaps it was time for a change, and the drivers be given a place in a forum in which their voice could be heard.

"All the drivers we do work together, we all meet, but the fact is we don’t have a seat at the table," he said.

"We do engage with the FIA and F1; F1’s more often a little bit more responsive, but being that we’re not stakeholders, we don’t have a seat at the table currently, which I think needs to change."

On that basis, we asked you, our loyal army of readers, whether Hamilton was right, and that F1 and the FIA should listen to his demand.

The decision was one-sided as almost 95% of those of you who voted agreed that 'the drivers are the best ones to know what needs to be changed'.

In contrast, only just over five per cent felt that the 'drivers should keep quiet, not get involved, and drive what they're given'.
