Lewis Hamilton is hopeful he can walk away from the British Grand Prix with a strong result in hand after a positive day of practice on Friday.
The seven-time champion has a staggering track record around Silverstone, winning the British GP event a record nine times.
However, the opening half of his maiden F1 season with Ferrari has been filled with challenges as Hamilton has struggled to come to grips with the car.
Ferrari appeared to possess an uptick in pace during Friday practice at Silverstone, with Hamilton ending both sessions in first and third respectively.
As he targets getting his first trip to the podium in red, Hamilton suggested it is not unrealistic to anticipate a solid result from the race weekend.
“I definitely feel we can dream of having a strong result, for sure,” Hamilton said.
“Executing and putting it all together is another thing.
“But I’ll prepare myself the best I can to make sure we get the best result. I think tomorrow, there is rain coming and on Sunday as well. So we’re just going to try our hardest to make sure we’re ready for that.”
Ferrari did not bring any notable upgrades to the Silverstone event, while rivals Red Bull and McLaren fitted new parts in a latest push for extra pace.
Hamilton took satisfaction from having competitive times relative to the other front-running outfits despite having no fresh components.
“It was a really good day,” Hamilton added. “It was great to see the crowd, amazing to be out on track in a Ferrari at Silverstone. It was pretty incredible.
“McLaren and Red Bull had an upgrade, so for us to be in the mix still, given they’ve had a step today is really positive.”
