Liam Lawson became the latest victim of F1's chaotic Australian Grand Prix, replicating Isack Hadjar's formation lap crash during an in-race shower. The Kiwi, running out of the points lost control of the Red Bull at Turn 1 as the field battled a sudden rain storm during the already-wet grand prix. In doing so, it was almost a carbon copy of the accident that befell Hadjar on the formation lap, causing an aborted and delayed start. Jack Doohan and Carlos Sainz then crashed on the first racing lap, before Fernando Alonso's lap 34 smash turned the race on its head. The field pitted for slick tyres, but were all warned of the approaching high-intensity rain shower, which scuppered the chances of Oscar Piastri at Turn 13 following a spin. Moments later, as Lawson tried to navigate Turn 1 on the medium tyres, the RB21 swapped ends on him, ending exactly where Hadjar had. On Lap 48/57, the running order is thus. Norris Verstappen Russell Albon Antonelli Stroll Hulkenberg Gasly Hamilton Leclerc Tsunoda Ocon Piastri Bearman
