It's the height of summer in the United Kingdom, with Silverstone right at the epicentre of a summer scorcher in Britain. With air temperatures of over 30 degrees, with very little wind, spectators attending Silverstone are urged to exercise caution. Bring plenty of water, sunscreen, and as much cover as is possible, as the fierce sun will hit sun strength 8 during the afternoon. For the drivers, the extreme heat will also play a role as the track surface will be extremely hot. Here's the latest weather forecast, with thanks to WeerOnline.nl.
Sunday - 2021 British Grand Prix
Temperatures are expected to rise in excess of 30 degrees celsius during the afternoon at Silverstone, with almost no cloud cover to block out a very direct and glaring sun. With very little wind, it will feel even warmer than that, and a sun strength of 8 is expected to be hit between the hours of 12pm and 3pm BST. Spectators in the packed grandstands are urged to bring protection in the form of a strong sunblock, and to use caps. For the drivers, the extremely hot tarmac under the direct sunlight will cause tyre issues in terms of blistering and excessive wear. Drivers and teams must therefore be ready to adjust their strategies on the go if needed.
