Lando Norris has declared he is not feeling as comfortable as he was in Mexico behind the wheel of his McLaren following his run to sprint qualifying pole position.
The Briton entered the São Paulo Grand Prix weekend in the lead of the championship for the first time since April, following a dominant run to victory in Mexico.
With only one practice session before the competitive sessions got underway, Norris beat his rivals to the top spot as he took the most advantageous position on the starting grid for Saturday's race.
While he looked in undisturbed two weeks ago in Mexico, Norris declared it was not the same story this time around.
“It was a little bit tougher than I would have liked,” he said.
“Close between little cars, Mercedes was quick on the soft. It's always tricky when you've got the medium and the soft, knowing how much more to push or not push sometimes.
“But we did the job we needed to do, which was to be fastest today.
“Trickier than Mexico, I've not been feeling quite as comfortable, but it's a great result.”
Heavy rainfall and high-speed winds are forecast on Saturday, which threaten to pose a major challenge during the sprint race and qualifying.
Norris, however, is not being drawn into becoming worried by the potential forecast.
“We'll wait and see what tomorrow is going to do,” he said. “It's meant to rain a lot in the morning, it's going to still be incredibly windy
“No point worrying about anything for now, I'm happy with today.
“It was difficult, it was a good job. I put things together. So now the focus will switch for tomorrow.”
