Lando Norris is to "review" his Belgian Grand Prix defeat to Oscar Piastri that has left him 16 points adrift of his McLaren team-mate in the fight for this year's F1 drivers' title.
Following a delay of 80 minutes to the start of the race at Spa Francorchamps due to wet weather, from a rolling start after four laps behind the safety car, Norris lost the lead on the first true racing lap when he was outdragged by Piastri along the Kemmel Straight.
At the changeover point onto slick tyres, Piastri took on the medium Pirelli compound, and Norris the hard tyre a lap later. But the expected degradation on the former, however, failed to materialise, leaving Norris to try and reel in the Australian over the final 32 laps.
Norris, however, made two key errors, losing 1.2s in running wide at Pouhon on lap 26, a further 0.7s with a lock-up out of La Source on lap 34, before failing to get past backmarker Isack Hadjar in his Racing Bulls on lap 40, which cost him another 0.8s.
The Briton, though, refused to take anything away from Piastri's performance.
"Oscar did a good job, nothing more to say," said Norris, in reviewing his race. "He committed a bit more through Eau Rouge [in the build up to the overtake] and got the run, so nothing to complain, and that was it.
"There was nothing more I could do after that point. I would love to have been up top, but Oscar deserved it."
As to the mistakes and whether he would have had a chance of battling Piastri, Norris said: "It's shoulda, woulda, coulda.
"Oscar deserved it. I'm sure he made a couple of mistakes, so if he drove a perfect race...I couldn't have won, so I'll review my things.
"But so happy for the team, another one-two, I think our first here for many, many years, so nice to bring that back to the team, and a well-deserved result for them and for Oscar."
With the next race up next weekend in Budapest, and the final one before F1's summer break, Norris is hoping his renowned love for the circuit will play to his strengths.
"Budapest is one of the best ones for me in terms of just what I've done there in the past years," he said. "And it's where I started my Formula 1 career. So, yeah, always good memories.
"Normally, it suits me a bit better than Spa."
He then added, "Happy with today, slightly disappointed, but of course, looking forward to next week."
