Lando Norris' sprint pole position at the Miami Grand Prix is under threat as the reigning champion has been summoned to the stewards.
Norris beat Kimi Antonelli to the top spot on Friday afternoon by two-tenths of a second to secure the leading position on the starting grid for Saturday's race.
It marked a strong return to form for McLaren and Norris, who have suffered a challenging start to the sport's new era under fresh technical regulations.
However, his pole position is now uncertain after the stewards flagged him for “driving unnecessarily slowly during qualifying.”
This alleged breach falls under Article 12.2.1.i of the International Sporting Code and is non-compliant with the race director's event notes.
Norris will see the stewards at 18:15 local time, where he will deliver his case.
Should he be penalised, it will be encouraging news for Antonelli, who enters Saturday's race looking to extend his lead in the drivers' standings.
