Lando Norris believes the F1 field could be in for "Silverstone-esque" levels of chaos at Spa-Francorchamps.
The Belgian Grand Prix is set for mixed conditions, with substantial uncertainty surrounding when rain might come and how intense any inclement weather might be. Either way, the chances of the race staying dry for its duration are forecast to be slim.
Starting from pole with McLaren team-mate Oscar Piastri alongside, the British driver suggested it could be comparable to his enthralling home race, the previous round in the F1 season.
No matter the conditions, Norris will be hoping to get the better of the Australian, whom he trails by nine points at the summit of the F1 drivers' championship standings.
When asked how he expects the race to play out, the eight-time grand prix winner immediately addressed the weather.
"It's probably going to rain," Norris told media, including RacingNews365. "I don't know much more than that. We'll wait and see.
"It's Spa, so high chance of rain, but that can also mean it just sometimes hits half the track and the other half stays dry."
As well as name-dropping the home of the British Grand Prix, Norris also mentioned his team-mate's home race, which also provoked bedlam throughout the field amid treacherous conditions.
Both invoked rounds saw Piastri make significant mistakes, so the 25-year-old may feel quietly confident about securing his third victory in succession.
"Could be in for a Silverstone-esque chaotic race, similar to Australia or Silverstone, the ones that are sometimes a bit in the middle," Norris added.
"Most likely some rain and drizzle. Hard to know. We're going off the front, so hopefully, I can make an advantage of that and clean air and go from there."
