Lando Norris has offered an explanation for his dominant drive at the Mexico City Grand Prix on Sunday.
The Briton survived a chaotic opening lap at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez to retain his lead, which stretched out to over 30 seconds at the chequered flag.
It marked the biggest winning margin seen this year and allowed Norris to reclaim first place in the drivers' standings over team-mate Oscar Piastri.
When asked what element of the car allowed him to eke out such an advantage across the 71-lap race, Norris said: “It's a good question.
“The car is just quick. It has been the whole season, but clearly, it's still difficult to drive at times.
“But I think when you just find that sweet spot, it can be down the road and make your life a bit easier.
“It's hard to say what's better about mine than the others, but I've just had a bit more grip, and that's normally always the easiest answer.”
Such was Norris' advantage towards the end of the race, he was in a position to make a second pit stop and rejoin the grand prix with a healthy lead intact.
The Briton admitted he was tempted to do so, but felt no need to risk a slow stop and put his win in jeopardy.
“I just didn't need to,” Norris said. “I was definitely tempted, but it wasn't needed.
“No point for a fastest lap or anything anymore, so didn’t have to.”
