Lando Norris has cautioned McLaren that it must keep its eyes on surprise British Grand Prix contender, Ferrari.
Although Norris was second and first in the two Friday Silverstone sessions, he was bested by Lewis Hamilton in FP1 and then beat Hamilton's team-mate Charles Leclerc in FP2.
Ferrari was not expected to be close to McLaren, on a track layout expected to suit the MCL39's characteristics, but Leclerc finished a shade over three-tenths behind after Hamilton's session-topping FP1 pace.
On a weekend Mercedes and Red Bull look to be out of contention, Norris has highlighted the pace of Hamilton and Leclerc as a potential threat to McLaren's hopes of a first British GP win since Hamilton's 2008 triumph.
"It was a very, very strong lap, but me being me... I think the Ferraris have been very quick today," Norris explained.
"They shall be tomorrow as well, so we have a bit of work to do.
"To be honest, maybe it looks a bit too good today, and Ferrari always catch up in FP3 like they did last weekend, so I am pleased with today, but it is nothing to be proud about."
Norris was then questioned about his own grandstand on the exit of Stowe, and how it was "distracting" him with fans decked out in Neon yellow.
"It is incredible to look at every lap; it is hard to miss and so every lap, I am forced to look at it, but if it is distracting me, it is distracting others, so it is working."
