Lando Norris has accused the producers of F1's Drive to Survive series of "almost lying" about his relationship with Max Verstappen.

Norris and Verstappen are good friends off-track, and often travel to grands prix together, with episode two of the recently-released latest series following their battle for victory in the 2024 Miami Grand Prix.

Norris ultimately won after dropping Verstappen on a safety car restart to record his maiden grand prix victory, with Verstappen offering warm congratulations to the Briton.

However, footage from the cooldown room of the episode purported to show Verstappen angry at the defeat, although on closer inspection, the footage was actually from the Dutch GP, where Norris thumped Verstappen on home ground.

Throughout the run of the Netflix show, it has been accused of faking rivalries or trying to manufacture them, something Norris picked up on.

"They need to show the truth about people more," he said as per The Independent.

"I’m not a fan of fake stuff. I want facts. I don’t want made-up scripts and fabricated nonsense, which there is.

"The portrayal of Max, and how we were against each other so much, they don’t need to create that drama, just show the facts.

"To portray someone in an incorrect way, people are going to have their opinions of that incorrect person. It is almost lying in some ways, and I just don’t think that’s correct.

"They just jumble up the whole thing and they don’t care when they put it in.

"Maybe it needs to be more of a documentary of the season, more than a show like they’re trying to do. It has drifted too far away."
