Lance Stroll triggers Hungary red flag after unusual car failure

Lance Stroll triggered a red flag in the opening practice session for the Hungarian Grand Prix.

Lance Stroll reported a "suspension failure" in his newly upgraded Aston Martin as he triggered a red flag in the opening Hungarian GP practice session.

As the Canadian rounded Turn 2 and began to put the power down for the fast right kink of Turn 3, the rear of the car snapped on him and spun him around as he crawled to a stop on the run up the hill to Turn 4.

He radioed into the team that he felt the problem was a left-rear suspension failure, with this being one of 16 new parts the team has deployed in its eagerly anticipated upgrade.

Stroll was 20th fastest at the time of the incident, and on his 12th lap of the session.
