Lance Stroll does not "give a shit" about ending his run of being outqualified by Fernando Alonso at 42 consecutive grands prix.
Before the grid-setting session at the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix, the Canadian driver had not bettered his team-mate in grand prix qualifying since Silverstone in 2024.
The Aston Martin drivers will line up P21 and P22, respectively, for the 66-lap race in Spain, with Alonso bringing up the rear of the grid in front of his home crowd.
The AMR26s were a second off the pace of newcomers Cadillac, with Sergio Perez and Valtteri Bottas comfortably locking out the penultimate row.
And following the frustrating session, Stroll was unmoved by the news that he had vanquished that particular record.
When asked by media, including RacingNews365, if it meant anything to him, he flatly responded: "No. I don't care."
The three-time podium finisher's indifference was not related to the difficult situation Aston Martin finds itself in.
Questioned on whether wiping the qualifying slate clean would mean more if the Silverstone-based squad was further up the grid, the 27-year-old bluntly replied: "I don't know. I don't give a shit."
Despite Stroll's streak of being outperformed by Alonso on Saturdays dating back to the 2024 British Grand Prix, he did manage to beat the two-time F1 drivers' champion in sprint qualifying at the Chinese Grand Prix last year.
