Kyle Larson was involved in a three-car wreck which eliminated him from the Indy 500 as he attempted double duty.
On the lap 93 restart following a caution period, Larson lost control of his #17 Chevrolet machine at Turn 2, downshifting and spinning out back across the field, tightly bunched together.
As he rebounded up the track, Larson collected Kyffin Simpson, with Sting Ray Robb pitched heavily into the barriers on the inside after hitting the outside wall.
All jumped clear of their cars, with Ryan Hunter-Reay leading following not pitting under the caution period, with Alex Palou in sixth the net leader.
Josef Newgarden runs ninth, although is fifth in the queue once the first four drivers make their next stops.
Pole-sitter Robert Shwartzman, Rinus Veekay, Alexander Rossi, Marco Andretti and Scott McLaughlin have all retired as the race approaches its half-way point.
They retired due to hitting pit-crew in the pits, a brake failure, engine fire, crash and crash on the formation lap, respectively.
In better news for Larson, he will now be able to make the NASCAR Coke 600 on time, having to be wheels up for Charlotte at 16:30 local time to make driver introductions at 17:25.
