Aston Martin Team Principal Mike Krack has heaped praise on his squad following its strong showing last time out in Brazil.

Fernando Alonso ended the Sao Paulo Grand Prix in third place after an intense late-race battle with Red Bull's Sergio Perez.

It marked the Spaniard's eighth podium of the season but it was arguably his most surprising as Aston Martin's strong showing came following a run of difficult races in which it slipped back in the pecking order.

Aston Martin commenced the season strongly with Alonso scoring six podiums in the opening eight races.

It picked up another top-three finish at the Dutch Grand Prix following the summer break but then was overtaken by some of its rivals and pushed down the grid.

Krack impressed by Aston Martin

Krack has hailed Aston Martin for rallying together in the difficult period to bounce back with a strong showing in Sao Paulo.

“It shows and you see it, what a strong team we are,” he told media including RacingNews365.com

“We have kept together in difficult times. After Zandvoort, we had a couple of races that were not strong.

“We had the tripleheader, which is brutal in terms of workload, in terms of being away, time zones, heat and a lot of work with not so many results.

“To come back like we did, I think it's great credit to everybody involved.

“The team at the track, the team at the factory and campus the lights didn't go off, if you can believe me, at times.

“It shows that if you're a strong team and if you trust each other and believe in each other, that you can do amazing things and manage amazing turnarounds.

“[In Mexico] we were on the other side of the grid, you see how sometimes these things can go.

“But I think after Mexico, the reaction that we have shown as a team shows that we are really gearing up for more.”
