Kimi Antonelli and Mercedes are set to be hit with a penalty by the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix stewards following a pit-lane collision with Red Bull's Yuki Tsunoda in final practice.
With the last session of the year reaching its conclusion, and the drivers on their qualifying simulation runs, Antonelli was given the all-clear to exit his garage.
But as the 19-year-old Italian pulled out into the pit lane, he ran straight into the sidepod of Tsunoda, sparking an FIA investigation of unsafe release.
The damage to Tsunoda's car naturally meant he was unable to get in a fast lap, leaving him bottom of the timesheet. Antonelli at least had a front-wing change and finished ninth-quickest, 0.373s behind team-mate George Russell.
Antonelli is not the only driver under investigation for an unsafe release as Williams face the same charge for an earlier incident with Alex Albon.
