Kimi Antonelli has ended the sole practice session from Zandvoort on top of the timesheets, setting a 1:12.949.

F1 returned to action as the summer break came to an end, with the Dutch Grand Prix kicking off the second half of the campaign.

The drivers are subject to just 60 minutes of practice, with sprint qualifying following the outing later today.

With Antonelli on top, he led Lando Norris by a one-and-a-half tenths, with the leading Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton rounding out the top three.

Despite his top three finishing position, it was not a completely smooth session for Hamilton, as he was one of several drivers who ventured through the gravel during the session.

Hamilton's team-mate Charles Leclerc was fourth fastest with a very late improvement, while George Russell was fifth fastest.

F1's return from the summer break has also brought temporary driver line-up changes, with Liam Lawson called up to Red Bull to replace an injured Isack Hadjar.

His Racing Bulls seat has been taken by Yuki Tsunoda, who has spent the opening half of the campaign on the sidelines.

However, neither driver could breach the top 10, nor could Max Verstappen who enters his home event with an extended contract in his pocket.

Oscar Piastri was sixth fastest for McLaren, while Audi impressed with a double appearance in the top 10 on the medium compound.

Nico Hulkenberg was seventh for the German outfit, while Gabriel Bortoleto was ninth.

Lodged between the pair was Pierre Gasly, who is the sole Alpine running the substantial upgrade package this weekend.

Rookie Arvid Lindblad rounded out the top 10 for Racing Bulls.

Next up is sprint qualifying, which takes place at 16:30 local time.
