Isack Hadjar's Red Bull F1 debut ended in disaster following a heartbreaking engine failure in the early stages of the Australian Grand Prix.
Starting from third, Hadjar was running in fifth place on Lap 11 behind the two Ferrari and Mercedes machines when smoke began pouring from the rear of his Red Bull Powertrains-Ford engine.
The Frenchman was keeping on the tails of the leading quartet, with his failure bringing out the virtual safety car, which prompted a round of pit stops.
George Russell and Kimi Antonelli both pitted of the leading quartet, but the Ferrari's of Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton did not, with the two leading with Russell third.
Max Verstappen has climbed from 20th to sixth, but has not pitted, which vaulted him up the order as Oscar Piastri and Nico Hulkenberg both failed to start due to a crash and a technical gremlin.
