Isack Hadjar has revealed how he responded to his crash behind the wheel of the new Red Bull car last month in Barcelona.
The F1 teams travelled to Barcelona at the end of January to take part in a shakedown test with the new-for-2026 cars, held behind closed doors.
It also allowed Hadjar an opportunity to gel with his new team, having received a promotion to Red Bull after an impressive rookie campaign in 2025.
However, as he got up to speed at the test, a mistake saw Hadjar slip off the road at the final corner and connect with the barrier.
Hadjar's mind was drawn to Pierre Gasly's crash at the same corner when his compatriot joined Red Bull at the start of 2019.
However, the 21-year-old insisted he got over the incident by keeping tabs on what was being said on social media.
"When I crashed, directly I thought about Pierre," Hadjar told media including RacingNews365.
"So I went on Twitter [X] and I read everything, and I was like, 'ah, I'm screwed for the whole season.' And that's how I moved on, honestly."
Hadjar has been chosen to partner Max Verstappen this year, becoming the latest in a long line to suit up alongside the Dutchman.
Although his promotion comes as the technical regulations receive a significant reset, Hadjar insisted Verstappen's experience gives him a major advantage.
"You can't buy experience, so it's definitely an important factor," he said.
"When you have 300 grands prix, if you make the most of them, then you have an advantage on a guy like me."
