Huge Verstappen victory revealed despite Red Bull struggles

Max Verstappen by a staggering margin led the most laps throughout the 2024 F1 season, en-route to a fourth consecutive F1 drivers' title. 

Verstappen led 560 laps this year, working out at 38.78% of the total completed laps across the 24 races. 

Lando Norris secured second on the list after leading 271 laps, working out at just 18.77% of the campaign. 

It is a surprisingly large victory for Verstappen, considering he endured a 10-race winless streak. 

Whilst Red Bull and Verstappen were imperious across the opening rounds, the Dutchman led little of the second half of the season. 

The only exception is the Qatar Grand Prix and the final stages of the wet race in São Paulo, where the 27-year-old won from 17th on the grid. 

The remarkable number of laps led by Verstappen in 2024 highlights just how dominant he was at the start of the season. 

Only nine drivers led a race this year, with Sergio Perez featuring at the bottom of the list having led just one lap.

Charles Leclerc led almost 400 laps fewer than Verstappen on 172, meaning the Ferrari driver led 11.91% of the season. His laps led were mainly accumulated in Monaco, Monza and in Austin.

George Russell and Carlos Sainz complete the top five, whilst Lewis Hamilton led just 31 laps. 

A surprise name on the list is Esteban Ocon who, of course, was the race leader for some of the race in Brazil.
