Lance Stroll suffered a massive crash at Turn 3 during the second free practice session for the Dutch Grand Prix, instantly triggering a red flag.
The Aston Martin driver, who radioed his team to confirm he is okay, locked up on entry into the banked corner at Circuit Zandvoort, hitting the wall and destroying the right-hand side of his AMR25.
It appeared the Canadian was carrying significant speed into the corner, and his front left wheel momentarily left the tarmac, factors that seemingly caused the crash, which was similar to Daniel Ricciardo's in 2023.
The eight-time grand prix winner injured his right hand in that incident and was forced to miss five rounds whilst he recovered. However, Stroll, who has battled wrist injuries of his own in recent years, is believed to be okay.
His Aston Martin team face a considerable rebuild of his car. It is currently unclear what the full extent of the damage is, but a gearbox replacement and chassis change may be necessary - if not a full replacement of the survival cell, or tub.
The three-time podium finisher had been enjoying a strong start to his weekend at Zandvoort, after going third fastest in FP1.
