Helmut Marko has shared a “promising” update on Red Bull's F1 car for next season.
Red Bull has endured a slip in form this year and is not considered a serious threat in the title fight amid McLaren's ascendancy to the head of the pecking order.
Fresh technical regulations will come into play next year as major changes will hit the chassis and the power units.
Marko stated positive figures are coming from the Red Bull camp as the car continues to take shape.
“We've come a long way, and the figures are promising,” Marko told Kronen Zeitung.
“There are four components that could be decisive: the combustion engine, the battery, the fuel, and the power supply. We're also making good progress with the chassis.
“I hope we don't see a repeat of 2014, when Mercedes suddenly had 50 to 70 more horsepower.”
Red Bull is building its own power unit for the first time in its history as part of the regulation change, working in partnership with Ford.
Highlighting the significance of the partnership between the two companies, Marko explained: “Ford is a very important partner.
“As a large corporation, they have completely different access options when it comes to material procurement, for example.
“We are also working very closely with Ford on the turbo and battery.”
