GT World Challenge Portimao qualifying results with Max Verstappen

Max Verstappen, Ben Barnicoat and Chris Lulham will start Saturday's final round of the GT World Challenge Europe at Portimão from 15th on the grid. The #2 Porsche of Dorian Boccolacci claimed pole position.

Qualifying proved to be a difficult session for Verstappen Racing's #3 Mercedes AMG GT3. Barnicoat took on Q1 duties but could manage no better than 21st, with the car bouncing noticeably down the straight and hampering any chance of a strong lap time.

Team-mate Lulham ran into the same handling issues in Q2, but still found enough pace to move the car up the order. The Briton handed Verstappen Racing 15th place heading into the final segment, though the gap to the quickest Porsches remained substantial.

It then fell to Verstappen to salvage the best possible grid slot for the #3 Mercedes in Q3. The Dutchman ultimately crossed the line in 15th in the closing minutes of the session.

Pole went to the #2 Porsche, with the #17 Mercedes and the #80 Porsche completing the front three.
