Unexpected rain showers around Interlagos have provided the latest twist on a São Paulo Grand Prix weekend characterised by unpredictable weather.
The cyclone off the coast of Brazil has added considerable jeopardy to the already unstable forecasts in the region, but the threat of disruption has yet to materialise.
Dry conditions prevailed throughout practice and sprint qualifying on Friday, before rainfall into Saturday left the asphalt at the Autódromo José Carlos Pace damp for the one-third distance race.
The tricky, changeable conditions caught Oscar Piastri, Nico Hulkenberg and Franco Colapinto out on the wet kerbs at the exit of Turn 2, but the field managed to navigate the 24-lap race on slick Pirelli tyres.
It remained dry for the main qualifying session, and the forecast for the grand prix was that those conditions would prevail.
However, unexpected adverse weather has rolled into São Paulo this morning, despite not being anticipated by the latest reports.
With just over five hours before the grand prix gets underway, there is ample time for the track surface to dry — unless there are further twists to come.
