After a nine year absence the French Grand Prix returned to the F1 calendar in 2018. After running on a host of different circuits including LeMans and Magny-Cours, the race returned to the Circuit Paul Ricard in 2018 after it first hosted the French Grand Prix on 14 different occasions between 1971 and 1990.

The 5.8km circuit is known for its signature blue and red run off areas and was an ideal testing venue during the days of unlimited testing. The circuit has been known to produce a few boring races due to its familiarity to drivers and teams.

Lewis Hamilton has won both races since the Grand Prix made its return to the calendar with Valtteri Bottas and Charles Leclerc joining him on the podium in 2019.
